This policy sets out how Second Chances German Shepherd Rescue uses the information that we collect in order to help further our work in rehoming and caring for the dogs that come through our care.
Second Chances German Shepherd Rescue will now ask its supporters to “opt-in” for communications, or to “opt out” if you no longer wish to receive communications. This is due to a change to the regulations which govern how we can communicate with you; therefore, you have to give us your consent to allow us to continue to contact you.
Your personal data (i.e. any information which identifies you, or which can be identified as relating to you personally) will be collected and used by Second Chances German Shepherd Rescue (SCGSR), Registered Charity SCO28175. For the purposes of data protection law, SCGSR will be the data controller.
What information we collect
We collect personal data you provide to us. This includes information you give when joining, placing an order or communicating with us. For example:
• personal details (for example, name, email, address, telephone, etc.) when you join as a member;
• financial information (payment information such as credit/debit card or direct debit details, and whether donations are gift-aided.; and
• if you purchase SCGSR membership as a gift for someone, your details will be recorded (as will the recipients).
We will never sell your personal data, and will only ever share it with organisations we work with where necessary.
We will only use your information for the purpose or purposes it was collected for (or else for closely related purposes):
Marketing / Fund-raising
We use personal data to communicate with people, to promote SCGSR and to help with fundraising. This includes keeping you up to date with our news, updates, campaigns and fundraising information.
We use personal data for administrative purposes (i.e. to carry on our charity work). This includes:
• receiving donations (e.g. direct debits or gift-aid instructions);
• maintaining databases of our volunteers and members;
• fulfilling orders for goods or services (whether placed online, over the phone or in writing);
If you give us your consent, we will contact you with information and updates on our work, products (such as raffles or items for sale) and how you can support us, (such as fundraising).
There are specific provisions when we do not need consent, one example is legitimate interest. This could include if you contact us to rehome your dog or apply to adopt a dog through us. If you have rehomed a dog through us, we think there is a legitimate interest for us to contact you without having specific consent and we will therefore keep your personal information to allow for this. If you do not wish for us to contact you, please contact us to let us know.
You have the right to amend any of the personal information that we hold about you.
Thank you for your support.
